We are moving forward nicely.  Chris and I are meeting with someone we think will be the DP for the film next week and we’ve added another producer. More information on these two individuals as soon as everything is firmed up.  Until then, happy Thanksgiving!

Middling Meat Comic Book Adaptation

Middling Meat is in the process of being adapted for a comic book/graphic novel adapted by me (Stephen Lackey) with art by the amazing Ayjey from Ayjey Illustrated!  Above is an early sample for a page in the first issue of the comic book.  The artwork and the adaptation are both still early and likely to change but this sample reflects the direction the comic book is going.

What is Middling Meat?

Well, Middling Meat is a couple of things.  It’s a part of a pig for one, but more importantly it’s a novella written in the tradition of Deliverance, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and some Stephen King style supernatural bits thrown in. The story is definitely in the southern gothic being set in the Appalachian Mountains and it’s personal and character driven, not just some sort of gore fest.

Now, the story will be realized in the form of a feature film from Captain Pixel Productions and Safe in Heaven Dead Productions directed by documentary filmmakers Stephen Lackey and Chris Dortch. Given the background of these two filmmakers this project will most assuredly have a documentary feel making the edgier moments, of which there are many, feel even more visceral and realistic.

Constantly here at this site Chris and I will be posting updates including production information, images, and more so subscribe to the site and stay up to date on what should be one of the most exciting films of next year!
